behold: Lula Scrapbook. this is where you can get your weekly does of valium for your eyes while you are in between publication of issues. so so so many wonderful people contribute to the scrapbook, my mind reels (and there is a smidgen of jealousy in my heart) that Leith knows all these people!

j'adore simplement Leith Clark

a few days ago i mentioned the latest issue of lula magazine and how it is amazing. actually, "amazing" fails to pay the appropriate dues to lula. adjectives escape me for the appropriate way to describe how i feel about this magazine. but let me say, the copies i have, i will be holding on to for a very long time, perhaps i will even pass them down to my daughter (if and when and all those other disclaimers single girls make).

the heart and soul, the very essence of lula is Leith Clark. while i love my best friends with all my heart and soul, i wish that Leith Clark would be my best friend too.

Read this article on the Lovely Leith that Dazed and Confused (another justifiably lovable magazine) featured a few months back.

" A lot of my friends have said that they love that I’ll want to go out somewhere and all I want to drink is champagne and it’ll be at the Ritz, and then the next day we’ll go and sit in the park and make our own food and then we’ll go home and watch a really bad American movie."

How can you not love her!

she's still captivating.

Gemma Ward is back in the media focus and for all the right reasons (for the most part...)

Sunday Telegraph last week
Ms Ward is taking to the stage as one of the lead roles in Perth Theatre Company's production of The Ugly One. in her interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Gem Gem touched on the reasons why she's shied away from the spot light (Heath and the consequent weight gain thing), how good it is to be back on her old stomping ground and how excited she is for her upcoming stage debut.

to be 100% honest, i couldn't help but feel a little disappointed with the whole Heath angle of this story, it just seems to be more of giving the media what they want to hear and almost trading off Heath's memory a little to sell the whole story.

now, of course, this could just be the spin that the news paper has put on the interview (and i certainly hope it is)... lets face it, media outlets are not exactly the moral pillar of society and certainly not above trading off a dead person's allure if they think it will sell more papers. and even with this all this said Gemma Ward is still captivatingly beautiful lady and a talented screen actress, (The Black Balloon, anyone?). i would be interested to see how the talent she's previously displayed in the screen translates on to the stage.

girl of my dreams

lula, the brain child of Leith Clark, is perfection! issue 11 blows my mind completely!

not only is Charlotte Gainsbourg the cover girl, wearing the most beautiful Rodarte gown, the issues is also guest edited by  Kate and Laura Mulleavy. just one of the stories in this oh so beautiful, but oh so heavy magazine has Sofia Coppola interviewing the Mulleavy sisters on the success of their completely lust worthy brand (Rodarte, in case you have been living under a rock), while Kirsten Dunst is shot on Impossible Project Silver Shade Film (!!!) and this story only takes up about 10 pages of this issue. exhausted from this name dropping? wait, there is more! the other 252 pages have been filled with Vivienne WestwoodSophie Calle, Nick Cave, Miranda July, S.E. Hinton, Juliana Hatfield, Evan Dando, Jenny Lewis and all matters of wonderful and good things about the world.

i'll hide your locket under the dirt, i'll be your bird.

this weekend an ever so sweet friend of mine has secured us tickets to see M Ward! words can not describe how excited we are for this, its actually reaching points of hysteria for both of us. i think i can safely say neither of us are embarrassed about the hysterics. we really love M Ward that much !

here is M Ward's most beautiful song (in my humble opinion) for you to enjoy and go green with envy that my dear little friend and i get to spend out Saturday night with this gentleman.

i was listening to this song today and i suddenly remember my grandfather, before he passed away , gave me a gold locket when i was 8 years old because it was the only thing i wanted so desperately in the whole wide world. i'm horribly ashamed to admit i have no idea where that locket is, but gosh, even the thought of it makes my heart swell.

perhaps my ever so late new year revolution should be to find my lost locket.

the curve of forgotten things

my oldest and dearest friend sent me this last night and it completely amazed me! Elle Fanning, the darling of Sofia Coppola's film Somewhere, has teamed up with the immensely talented Mulleavy sisters (Rodarte, darling!) and the visionary Todd Cole to make the below clip.

Enjoy, with a cup of tea, as you ease into this Sunday morning. xox

inspiration for a lazy girl

you need to watch this! i challenge you not to be inspired by Nary Manivong amazing life story. to think that someone who has suffered so much has come to achieve what he has gives me goosebumps! (and also highlights how utterly lazy i am not to have done very much at all in my privileged life)

forever

for a while now tattoos have been on my mind. actually entering a tattoo parlour has never entered into the equation while turning this thought over and over, but i have found myself pondering the thought of forever marking my body. it has been a somewhat private musing and something only disclosed to the closest of my friends. for the most part i find tattoos on females rather trashy, i turn my nose up at the whole notion, but the below tattoos and the ladies on who they adorn are an entirely different story. i find these ladies and their tattoos strangely alluring.

Freja Beha Erichsen's this too shall pass

Freja Beha Erichsen's (again) this world tonight is mine

Hilary's shine

Lily Cole's heart

i'm almost certain that i'm not ready for the sort of commitment that a tattoo entails. while i keep turning the idea over like a stone in the palm of my hand, i will take to eBay in search of some Chanel temporary tattoos. try before i buy, if you will...
